Thanks to my trusty Ipad, I have the ability to watch movies or TV shows wherever I go. If I didn’t have the ability to travel and watch the shows I want to watch, I might hyperventilate. I’m not even kidding, it’s one of those things that I can’t really get by without. I’m not saying it’s the only thing that helps me get through each day, but it’s definitely a big part. So many people tell me that I need to get my eyes off the boob tube, and get out there to see what the world has to offer. I tell them that I travel for work (I work for Quicken Loans), so I fire back at people and tell them I actually get out and see different things, but I love me some TV!
Anyway, I was in Farmington Hills, MI this week for work, and was discussing with my chauffeur at Limos of Farmington – check them out for top notch limo service – (again, I spend a lot of time in transit) the movie ‘Pitch Perfect 2 – We’re Back, Pitches.’
Now I’m not going to step on my tongue here and say that this movie was as good as the original Pitch Perfect, because that came out of nowhere and knocked everyone’s socks off. Really difficult to top a cult classic with a sequel. If you want funny, stupid humor, with some great singing, then this is your movie. If you’re looking for a great script, great acting, or an Oscar worth performance, then you might want to stay away. You know what you’re getting here, and if you don’t, then you might want to rethink your approach to movies.
I think the best review I saw recently was that this was great from a tonal standpoint, meaning that the music was good, but the movie otherwise fell flat. Pretty much what I could have said after seeing it. Like you would expect, there was some great moments of hilarity, especially from ‘Phat Amy’, who I could watch all day because of the ridiculous look on her face. Otherwise, there wasn’t much that made me roll out of my chair laughing. I did appreciate that there was a bunch of Green Bay Packers in the movie, which was different and refreshing. My wife would have greatly appreciated seeing Clay Mathews tear his shirt off and flex his pipes a bit.
Tony (chauffeur), had also seen the movie and agreed that it wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was worth a couple hours and a $10 ticket to go and see. If anything, this was just a fun, if not all encompassing movie to waste half an afternoon on.
Next time, I’ll give you my review of ‘Ant Man’, which I’m hoping is another good installment of a Marvel Comics movie!
Leave me a note below if you have any thoughts on the movie ‘Pitch Perfect 2’!
